Poetry: The African Girl

The African girl.

Her culture is embedded in her.
Her culture is her root

Never forgets to say her prayers.
Would knee to greet her elders,

This generation calls her 'old fashioned'
But she couldn't care any less.
She has an upbringing, she hold so dear.

You call her accent funny and unpolished!
But she has got a language,
Yours happen to be her second language.

While you call her an inferior race,
She knows her ancestors first walked the earth.

Does she dress funny?
Its called Ankara 'African print'
Her people find it beautiful on her.

She loves her heritage.
She loves her upbringing.
She loves her look.
She is a proud African girl.
