THE CITY WE LIVE IN (Part 2)

THE CITY WE LIVE IN

DOWNTOWN

They are the Peasants
They know it,
They work hard,
While wallowing in filth and decay
With the hope CHANGE would come
The crooks promised them CHANGE.
Of course they did.
In frustration, they turn to religion,
Oh religion!
The preacher promises to save their souls,
He could also turn things in their Favour
Only at a cost.
"Oh finally a saviour, a man who can hear the voice of God
Give him whatever he asks"
So they cast all their coins into the preachers purse
Until they are penniless.
Again they'd been preyed on,
Only this time they lost it all.

Gradually their sense of purpose deteriorates
Their impulses coming awake only at the sniff of food,
Like a horde of zombies.
They've forgotten the cause of their problems
Their suffering has gotten used to them
They probably won't complain anymore
Because CHANGE to them, is an illusion
